Fly Fishing for Beginners and Experienced fisherman
Ever wanted to learn to fly fish? At River Escapes, we provide fly fishing tuition tailored to your specific requirements. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to learn new techniques in fly fishing, River Escapes will cater to your experience and skills.
River Escapes offers some of the best Fly Fishing Victoria has on offer
- Tour inclusions: We typically cover the following topics in beginner sessions:
- Gear use and set-up
- Casting and line management
- Entomology and fly choice
- Fish behaviour
- Fishing in different waters (lakes and rivers)
A typical lesson involves theory streamside, and your newly learned skills will be taken on the water for the last half of the session. Drinks and snacks are included in half day tours while lunch is included in full day tours.
What to bring: All gear is provided, but please bring a hat, sunglasses and appropriate clothing for the day. If you have your own equipment, you are welcome to use it.
Optional extras: Hand-made flies for the local and surrounding regions and the option to order the same equipment you used during the day (pricing upon request), additional tours for a non-fishing partner are available upon request.
Fly Fishing for brown and rainbow trout
River Escapes has the local knowledge and know how to help you experience and fully appreciate the fantastic trout fishing the region has to offer. All levels of experience are catered for, or if there is a new technique you would like to learn we can show you how. Our guided fly fishing is available for one to two people.
Tour inclusions: Half day and evening rise sessions include drinks and snacks while a full day also includes lunch. All gear is provided if needed including flies and tippet. Local pickup from accommodation is available upon request.

Drift Boat Fishing for Australian natives and trout
Keen to experience clear water fishing for Murray cod and golden perch using either fly or lure techniques, or how about sneaking up on brown and rainbow trout? Our boat opens up sections of river largely inaccessible to bank based methods, allowing the angler to fully explore magnificent sections of river. Beautiful still waters are also fishable from the boat and can be added to a day trip, complementing streams fished during the day.
Tour inclusions: Half day and evening rise drifts both include drinks and snacks while a full day also includes lunch. All gear is provided if needed including lures, flies and tippet. Local pickup from accommodation is available upon request. As with all our fishing trips, we will supply any gear that you do not have, but please feel free to bring your own equipment.
